Köllen Tryk: Redefining Interaction with Furniture

Adrian Soldado Cid and Paula Terra Bosch's Award-Winning Interactive Hanger

Introducing Köllen Tryk, an innovative interactive hanger designed by Adrian Soldado Cid and Paula Terra Bosch. This unique piece of furniture, which won the Silver A' Furniture Design Award in 2018, is a testament to the designers' commitment to exploring future trends and creating products that adapt to modern habits.

The inspiration behind Köllen Tryk lies in the increasing presence of digital devices in our lives and the way we interact with them. The designers aimed to transfer this interaction from technological devices to furniture, creating a piece that is not only functional but also interactive. The result is an adaptable piece of furniture that creates new experiences for the user.

Köllen Tryk stands out for its unique properties. It is a piece of interactive furniture that can be adapted to the demands of the users according to the space available. The cylindrical pieces within Köllen Tryk have two states: they can either be hidden or protruding to the outside, allowing the user to hang anything they please. This interactivity gives the user a degree of control over the product not often seen in this kind of furniture.

The design process involved extensive research on new habits and trends, focusing on how users relate and interact with digital devices. The designers were inspired to create a piece that fulfils modern habits, particularly as an interior piece. The challenge was to bring the ever-growing interaction with the user to uncharted fields, such as furniture design.

Köllen Tryk is made using CNC cutting. The structure is made of wood lacquered in white, while the cylindrical buttons are made of beech solid wood covered with wood plate. The product measurements are 800 x 100 x 150 mm for the large unit and 400 x 100 x 150 mm for the small unit.

The project started in September 2016 and was exhibited during the "Milan Design Week 2017" in the "Salone Satellite", within the "Salone del Mobile Milano" (4-9 April 2017). The design has been tagged as interactive, modular, multifunctional, functional, decorative, nordicstyle, adaptable, nordic design, design, and hanger.

In conclusion, Köllen Tryk is a testament to the power of design in transforming our interaction with everyday objects. It is a perfect example of how design can be used to create products that are not only functional but also interactive, adaptable, and aesthetically pleasing. The designers, Adrian Soldado Cid and Paula Terra Bosch, deserve commendation for their innovative approach and their commitment to pushing the boundaries of design.
